The safe 'X-ray' scheme
In Krasnoyarsk, police detained a courier for fraudsters who stole money and valuables worth about 30 million rubles from an apartment. This was reported by the regional MVD Directorate (based on materials from Gazeta.Ru).
How an 18-year-old young man was deceived
Unknown callers contacted an 18-year-old young man posing as college employees: they told him about the creation of a new electronic journal, asked him to name a code, and then began threatening him and demanding that he 'declare' all his funds. The young man said that his savings were kept in his parents' safe. The fraudsters then suggested he leave the apartment key and go away — supposedly a 'specialist' would come in his absence to 'X-ray the safe.' The teenager's parents were away, and the scammers booked him a hotel room and told him to leave the keys in an agreed place. Returning home, the young man discovered that the safe had been cut open with an angle grinder and the money and jewelry were gone, after which he went to the police.
Detention and consequences
Police identified the courier, who had managed to flee to the Kemerovo region; he was detained and taken to Krasnoyarsk. A criminal case has been opened, with total damages amounting to 30 million rubles. Gazeta.Ru also recalls a similar case: earlier, in the Irkutsk region, a pensioner lost 26 million rubles after a call from a fake 'governor.'
