- In October 2026, imports of used cars into Russia amounted to 34,000 units — 43% less than a year earlier

Imports nearly halved compared with the record October
In October 2026, 34,000 used passenger cars were imported into Russia. That is 43% less than in October last year, when imports reached a record of almost 60,000 units. Compared with September of this year, the decline was 5%. The figures were released by the head of the Autostat agency, as reported by Gazeta.Ru.
The geography of supplies has changed noticeably
The structure of imports has changed significantly. Supplies from South Korea fell 6.5-fold — from 13,800 to 2,100 cars (down 85%). Imports through Georgia decreased 5.5-fold, and through Belarus 3.5-fold. At the same time, supplies from Japan fell by only 6%, and from China by 22%. As a result, Japan remains the main supplier of used cars to Russia: it accounts for almost 60% of all imports.
The context of the recycling fee
Earlier, as the outlet notes, it was reported that imports of used diesel cars into Russia fell by 60% due to the recycling fee. Thus, the October statistics continue the previously recorded decline in used car imports against the backdrop of regulatory changes.
