The key facts

  • A full-cycle plant producing Haval automatic transmissions has started operating in the Tula Region
  • The complex covers 35,000 m², employs about 500 people, with investments estimated at hundreds of millions of rubles
  • Production includes heat treatment, machining on robotic equipment, and a “smart vision” system on the assembly line

Full-cycle plant launches at Uzlovaya

A full-cycle plant producing automatic transmissions for Haval vehicles has begun operating in the Tula Region. The launch was reported by Motor magazine, briefly summarizing a Gazeta.Ru article. The complex is located in the Uzlovaya industrial park, covers 35,000 m², employs about 500 people, and the investment is estimated at hundreds of millions of rubles.

Why deeper localization was needed

Motor links the launch to requirements for foreign investors: “to meet government requirements, foreign investors are obliged to deepen localization, and GWM with the Haval brand is the first among foreign investors here.” Thus, the new plant is not a standalone project but part of fulfilling the localization conditions under which foreign automakers operate in Russia.

What happens at the plant

The plant has heat treatment and machining sections: milling and gear tooth cutting are performed on robotic CNC equipment. The assembly line uses a “smart vision” system that scans parts and compares their geometric parameters against a reference. A full cycle means the transmissions are manufactured on site, not merely assembled from ready-made components.

Context: access to the taxi market

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade expanded the list of localized vehicles, cleared for taxi operation — a separate decision affecting Haval models alongside other brands. The launch of transmission production strengthens the brand’s localization position, but the publications do not specify which models will be equipped with Tula-made transmissions or in what volumes.
