Assessing Cherchesov's prospects

Match TV commentator Konstantin Genich has said that Stanislav Cherchesov, who previously headed Grozny's Akhmat, may be able to find work abroad. According to him, the coach could once again receive an offer from abroad, where he has a 'good track record' after working with Poland's Legia and Hungary's Ferencváros. Genich described the spell at Akhmat as Cherchesov's first not entirely successful club experience. The commentator's words are quoted by Match TV, and they are also reported by Gazeta.Ru.

Results at Akhmat and the final match

Cherchesov took charge of Akhmat in August 2025. Under his leadership the team played 50 matches, winning 13, drawing 15 and losing 22. His final match was an away game in Round 13 of the Russian Premier League against Dynamo Moscow on 31 October, which Akhmat lost 0:2. Dynamo midfielder Daniil Fomin opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with a long-range shot after a mistake by goalkeeper Vadim Ulyanov, and in the 77th minute forward Konstantin Tyukavin doubled Dynamo's lead with an assist from Fomin.

Mostovoi's opinion

Earlier, former footballer Alexander Mostovoi urged Moscow's Lokomotiv not to appoint Cherchesov as head coach. Thus, public assessments of the specialist's prospects diverge: while Genich points to Cherchesov's demand abroad, Mostovoi, according to the outlet, spoke against his candidacy for Lokomotiv.
