Emergency regime in the power grid

Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kyiv and four Ukrainian regions at once — Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv and Cherkasy. This was reported by the national energy company Ukrenergo, which explained the measures by the difficult situation in the country's power system. Due to the emergency regime, the previously published outage schedules in the affected regions are temporarily not in effect, and no exact timelines for restoring the normal regime have been given.

What preceded the new restrictions

This is not the first such restriction in recent days: as Life.ru reported, emergency power outages were already introduced in Kyiv and Kyiv region on November 3. At the time, the capital's mayor Vitali Klitschko explained them by damage to facilities of the regional energy hub. The power outages were accompanied by problems with water supply and transport: some trolleybus routes and the funicular were temporarily suspended.

What is known and what remains unknown

According to Ukrenergo, power engineers are working to stabilize the electricity supply, and the restrictions are expected to be lifted once the situation in the system improves. Residents of the affected regions are urged to follow updates from local energy companies, as electricity supply may change. The publication does not say what caused the current emergency regime specifically, or whether it will affect water supply and transport as it did on November 3.
