Status of Russian athletes
Gazeta.Ru recalls the context of Russians' participation in international competitions: in March 2022 the IOC recommended that federations exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes, and at the 2024 Games in Paris 15 Russian athletes competed in a neutral status without flag or anthem; the same rules applied at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Meanwhile, on July 7, 2026, the IOC temporarily lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee and recommended that federations remove restrictions on Russian athletes. The sources do not clarify in what status the Russian team has been admitted specifically to the Youth Games in Dakar.
