The key facts

  • Peskov: the Ukrainian side should announce the composition of the Ukrainian delegation
  • Talks between Russia, the US and Ukraine are scheduled for November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi
  • The Russian delegation will be led by Vladimir Medinsky, the US — by Witkoff and Kushner

The Kremlin is not responsible for the composition of the Ukrainian delegation

Press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov refused to say who will represent Kyiv at the upcoming trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi and suggested addressing this question to the Ukrainian side itself. 'It is not for us to say; it is for the Ukrainian side to say,' he replied in a comment to Channel One. This was reported on November 4 by Life.ru and Gazeta.Ru.

Format and participants of the meeting

The talks between Russia, the US and Ukraine are scheduled for November 10–11 and will be held at the delegation level, with Washington acting as a mediator between Moscow and Kyiv. The dates were previously announced by the US president's special envoy Steven Witkoff, after which Peskov confirmed the participation of the Russian delegation. According to Gazeta.Ru, the meeting will be the first in the trilateral format after a break of almost nine months; the parties intend to discuss terms for a cessation of hostilities, security guarantees and humanitarian issues, although Moscow and Kyiv did not separately confirm the dates announced by Washington.

Composition of the delegations: what is known and what is unknown

The Russian negotiating team will once again be led by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky. Life.ru previously reported that representatives of several Russian agencies, including the Foreign Ministry, would be involved in the consultations, and that the final composition of the delegation will be approved by Vladimir Putin. On the US side, according to Life.ru, Witkoff and the White House chief's son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to take part; Witkoff outlined the main areas of the consultations: post-war security guarantees, de-escalation, humanitarian initiatives and further steps toward a settlement. The composition of the Ukrainian delegation had not been announced at the time of publication — it is precisely this question that the Kremlin redirected to Kyiv.
