The key facts
- Valentina Molodaya explained her visit as a request from an acquaintance to help a seriously ill man
- The question of choosing a measure of restraint for her and the second suspect, Tetyana, is being decided
- Budanov* previously reported her detention; the ambulance was linked to a private service
The medic explained the reason for her visit
Ukrainian medic Valentina Molodaya, who found herself at the center of a scandal over the detention of people in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka near Kyiv, explained her presence at the scene of the incident. According to her, she came there at the request of an acquaintance named Tetyana, who said that her relative was in serious condition at the address where mass riots later broke out. This is reported by Life.ru citing Ukrainian media.
Details and legal consequences
Molodaya said that the man had previously undergone surgery and suffered from five more concomitant illnesses. After receiving his medical documents, she decided to come to the scene in person to provide assistance. Both women are now at the center of a criminal proceeding: the question of choosing a measure of restraint for Molodaya and Tetyana is being considered.
Detention and additional information
Earlier, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov* announced the detention of Valentina Molodaya after the events in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka. According to him, the woman, together with a driver, had come to the building several days before the conflict. Ukrainian journalists established that the ambulance in which she arrived had previously belonged to a private medical service. According to Life.ru, the medic was added to the Mirotvorets database, where she was deemed a threat to Ukraine.
What remains unclear
The publications do not disclose which specific measure of restraint may be chosen or what the status of the criminal case is. Budanov's* claim about the visit several days before the conflict and Molodaya's own explanation that she came to help the patient are presented in the sources without additional verification; the contradictions between these versions are not directly addressed in the publications.
