Free medicines from 2027
In Uzbekistan, starting from 2027, 73 types of medicines will be provided to the population free of charge under the guaranteed medical care program. This was reported by Kun.uz, citing an article in the Azzaman newspaper, which was quoted by the Dunyo news agency. The measures became known during a meeting of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with representatives of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
What else the reform includes
The changes are aimed at expanding primary health care, early detection of diseases, and reducing citizens' expenses on treatment. The plan includes improving the work of family polyclinics, establishing new laboratories, and raising the qualifications of doctors and nurses. During 2027, the new system is planned to be introduced in 15 more districts.
Prevention and funding
Programs for the early detection of cancer and cardiovascular diseases are being expanded; the goal is to reduce early mortality from diseases by 15%. For the implementation of the program, 200 billion soums have been allocated. In the healthcare system, the principle of 'from treatment to prevention' is expected to be more widely adopted, along with improvements in the quality of services, patient safety, and compliance with sanitary requirements in medical facilities.
Incentives for medical workers
To motivate medical workers, competitions such as 'Best Doctor' and 'Best Nurse' are being organized. Winners will receive cash prizes of 100 million soums, and in 2027, winners of the regional stage are planned to be awarded electric vehicles.
