The key facts
- From November 15, 2026, the retail price of liquefied gas (propane) for the population is set at 5,000 sums per kg including VAT — a 2.5-fold increase from 2,000 sums
- The maximum delivery cost from LPG-Trade is 1,300 sums per kg including VAT; the company will cover the costs through budget subsidies
- Families in need are entitled to compensation of 3,000 sums for each kilogram of purchased gas, but no more than 20 kg per month, until January 1, 2030
New propane price and compensation for those in need
On October 31, the government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution on measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of liquefied gas to the population and on the gradual introduction of market mechanisms in the industry. As reported by Spot.uz, starting November 15, 2026, the retail price of liquefied gas — propane — for the population will rise from 2,000 to 5,000 sums per kilogram including VAT, that is, 2.5 times. The outlet Kun.uz also published the new tariffs, citing two government resolutions: one on mechanisms of social support for the population during the transition of the fuel and energy sector to market principles, and another on measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of liquefied gas to citizens.
Delivery, targeted assistance and separate cylinders for several households
The maximum cost of gas delivery to the population by LPG-Trade is set at 1,300 sums per kg including VAT; to cover the 'economically justified costs' of delivery, the company will receive subsidies from the state budget. A targeted compensation is being introduced until January 1, 2030 for families included in the Social Register, as well as families with a per-capita income of no more than twice the minimum consumer expenses, and families in which orphans and children left without parental care live. The payment amounts to 3,000 sums for each kilogram of purchased gas, but no more than for 20 kg per month; the money will be transferred to social cards after the purchase is confirmed. For this purpose, Khududgaztaminot and the National Agency of Social Protection must integrate the E-gaz Billing and 'Unified National Social Protection' systems. If two or more families live in one household, each will be allowed to have a separate household cylinder provided there is a kitchen and gas stove of their own that meet technical requirements: representatives of the mahalla and the gas supply organization will conduct an inspection and draw up an act, and a single cadastral number will not be an obstacle.
Control over exchange trading and further liberalization
By May 1, 2027, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, together with the Ministry of Energy, must submit to the government proposals for the further development of the liquefied gas market and price liberalization. The Committee for the Development of Competition will continuously monitor trading on commodity exchanges to prevent artificial inflation of fuel prices. In addition to the gas-related innovations, the resolutions provide for another change for regions with gas supply interruptions: from November 1, 2026, the base electricity consumption norm in such areas is raised from 200 to 350 kWh. Earlier, Spot reported that coal, oil and gas condensate production is being ramped up in Uzbekistan.
