New requirements for imported vehicles
Kazakhstan is introducing restrictions on the import of vehicles by individuals for personal use. According to Zamon.uz, the changes were approved by the country's Ministry of Industry and Construction, and the relevant order has been published in the database of regulatory legal acts. Admission to circulation in Kazakhstan will be allowed only if two conditions are met: the vehicle must comply with at least the 5th environmental category (Euro-5) and be no older than five years from the date of manufacture. The requirements apply to certain types of passenger cars for personal use, motorcycles, and their trailers.
When it takes effect
The order takes effect 60 calendar days after the date of its first official publication — from December 30, 2026. Until that date, the current import rules remain in force. The Russian-language and Uzbek-language versions of the Zamon.uz publication cite identical deadlines and conditions; no other details — for example, on the procedure for confirming a vehicle's age and environmental class — are provided in the report.
