What happened and how the exchange is restoring its services
The cryptocurrency exchange Binance has begun resuming withdrawals after the hack on October 30, 2026, in which assets worth $6.3 billion were stolen. This was announced on the exchange's profile on X.com; recovery details are reported by Spot.uz. The first phase began on the morning of November 1 London time: the platform conducted a security assessment and checked that the affected services were ready for a restart.
Phased reopening of withdrawals
In the first stage, withdrawals were opened for 15 assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin and the stablecoins USDT and USDC. The company set priorities based on data on user demand over the previous week. The first phase ended on November 1 at 12:36 London time (17:36 Tashkent time), after which the exchange enabled withdrawals in traditional currencies: by 15:00 Tashkent time on November 2, funds could be withdrawn in 28 currencies, including US dollars, euros, yen, tenge and som. Deposits, according to the company, were never interrupted. “Our goal is to resume withdrawals in stages, as we complete security and readiness checks,” Binance said, calling the restoration of users' access to their funds a “top priority.”
Compensating losses and the outflow of funds
By the morning of November 1, the exchange had compensated users for about 95% of the damage caused and restored balances by 90%, including in full for the top 10 most popular tokens, such as USDT and Bitcoin. The remaining 5% consists of less common assets with low liquidity: they are being purchased on the open market and through over-the-counter deals, and this process, the company warned, may take “a longer period”. A detailed report is promised once the investigation is complete.
The scale of the outflow: differing figures
Data on the scale of withdrawals differ. According to the company itself, in the 9 hours 30 minutes after withdrawals resumed, withdrawal requests totaling $4.65 billion were received, of which $1.01 billion were processed; the net outflow was $3.64 billion — just over 2% of the total assets held on the exchange. Reuters, citing the platform DefiLlama , reports withdrawals of $5.8 billion in assets; Binance representatives explained the discrepancy by saying that this figure does not take into account deposits into the company's new “hot” crypto wallet.
