The key facts
- Sybiha declared Ukraine's readiness to cease fire “everywhere and forever” and called on Russia to take a reciprocal step
- Lantratova reported the completion of the humanitarian mission in Alyoshky and the fulfillment of agreements by both sides
- Residents were delivered food, medicines, fuel and hygiene products; departures in both directions proceeded without hindrance
Statement by the Head of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry
Ukraine is ready to immediately and permanently cease fire on all sections of the front. This was stated by the country's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha on his page on the social network X, reports Gazeta.Ru. According to him, the results achieved in Alyoshky, Kherson region, could serve as a trust-building measure and create conditions for further progress in the peace process. Sybiha emphasized that the Ukrainian side acted in good faith and fulfilled its promises.
“If hostilities can be stopped in one place, they can be stopped everywhere and forever”
“If hostilities can be stopped in one place, they can be stopped everywhere and forever. Ukraine is ready. We expect the same from Russia,” Sybiha wrote.
Humanitarian mission in Alyoshky
The statement was prompted by a recently concluded episode of a local agreement. The Commissioner for Human Rights under the President of Russia, Yana Lantratova, reportedthat a humanitarian mission in Alyoshky had been successfully completed: difficult negotiations were held with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, as a result of which the parties reached an agreement. According to her, all agreements were fulfilled by both sides.
What was done on the ground
As part of the mission, residents of the city were delivered food, medicines, fuel, hygiene products and other necessary items. Lantratova noted that residents of Alyoshky who wished to leave for Russia “safely reached their destination,” while those who wanted to go to Ukraine “were also able to leave without hindrance, even if they had not submitted a request in advance.” Earlier, a mother of seven children evacuated from Alyoshky spoke about three months of hunger.
What this changes
What is practically significant here is a confirmed precedent: for the first time in the described situation, an agreement on a humanitarian mission was fulfilled by both sides, including the unimpeded departure of residents in both directions without prior requests. It is precisely this experience that Sybiha cites as a possible “trust-building measure.” At the same time, his statement remains a declaration of readiness, not an achieved agreement: no reaction from Russia is reported in the publications, and a ceasefire “everywhere and forever” has not yet been agreed by either side.
