The parties reported the completion of the mission in Alyoshky
Russia's Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova said on Friday that the humanitarian mission in Alyoshky, which is under Moscow's control (Kherson region, the city was taken under control in 2022), has been completed: the columns are dispersing in different directions. According to her, the local ceasefire was observed by both sides 'without any incidents.' This was reported by the Turkish agency Anadolu.
Kyiv: those who wished to leave have departed, the ceasefire held for 87 hours
Ukraine's Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Lubinets said on X that everyone who wished to leave Alyoshky was given that opportunity and is on their way to Ukraine, humanitarian aid has been delivered, and he himself is returning to Ukraine. He stated the duration of the ceasefire — 87 hours with no recorded violations — and thanked the Ukrainian armed forces for making the mission possible. President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address separately confirmed that the mission is underway and people are being evacuated to Ukraine, and also said that 'Russia must put an end to this war.'
Context and proposals for continuation
The ceasefire, agreed with the mediation of US First Lady Melania Trump, came into force on Tuesday at 01:00 GMT to deliver humanitarian aid and evacuate civilians, and remains in effect until 20:59 GMT on Sunday. Lantratova proposed making the humanitarian missions coordinated by Trump a regular initiative, noting that the operation in Alyoshky and the cooperation with Lubinets showed that such arrangements can help civilians 'even in difficult conditions.' At the same time, the parties' statements about the completion of the mission do not mean the end of the ceasefire: according to the agency, the regime formally remains in effect until the end of Sunday.
