Indexation for 2027
Social pensions in Russia are planned to be indexed by 6.8% from April 1, 2027, and insurance pensions by an additional 3.3%. Valery Ryazansky, chairman of the Presidium of the Central Board of the Union of Pensioners of Russia, told RIA Novosti about this, his words are cited by Gazeta.Ru.
Who will be affected by the increase
According to Ryazansky, the April indexation of social pensions will affect those who lack the insurance record or pension points needed to qualify for an old-age insurance pension, as well as people with disabilities — including children with disabilities and people disabled since childhood without a work record. Pensions for children who have lost a breadwinner will also be increased.
Two stages for insurance pensions
Insurance pensions in 2027, according to the expert, are planned to be raised in two stages: from February 1 — by the inflation rate, which will be 6.8%, and then by an additional 3.3% based on the wage growth rate. Thus, the April increase for insurance pensions does not replace the February one but is added to it — the total increase for the year will be about 10% taking both stages into account.
Supplements mentioned earlier
Earlier, on October 30, pensioners were reminded of their right to a 25% increase in the fixed portion of payments with at least 30 years of rural work record, as well as supplements for work in the North and for supporting incapacitated relatives. In 2026, the basic supplement for one dependent is 3,194.90 rubles per month, with a maximum of three people counted. Upon the birth of a child, the increase is possible automatically; in other cases, an application and documents are usually required. Even earlier, on October 26, the publication described ways to save up for a 'wealthy pension'.
What remains unknown
The figures cited are plans and estimates voiced by a representative of the Union of Pensioners of Russia, not approved budget parameters: the final indexation amounts are usually fixed when the budget and pension legislation for the relevant year are adopted. The inflation rate for 2026, on which the February increase depends, had also not been officially recorded at the time of publication.
