Peskov allowed for the possibility of a Volga appearing in the presidential garage
Press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov allowed that the new Volga car may appear in the garage of the head of state Vladimir Putin. He told RIA Novosti, answering the corresponding question: 'It may,' the Kremlin spokesman replied briefly.
Putin's test drive and the start of sales
Earlier, Vladimir Putin personally test drove the new Volga during a trip to Nizhny Novgorod. According to him, the car is easy to handle, and the cabin has good sound insulation. Sales of the brand's cars started on June 19, 2026; the lineup includes three models: the flagship K50 crossover, the mid-size K40 crossover, and the C50 business sedan.
Volga outsold Moskvich in sales
A telling backdrop for Peskov's comment is the sales dynamics: from October 5 to 25, buyers in Russia purchased 793 Volga cars versus 694 Moskviches — for the first time, the brand outsold its competitor. At the same time, the main demand for the two brands falls on different models: for Moskvich, about 80% of sales are provided by the most affordable crossover, the Moskvich 3, whereas more than half of Volga buyers choose the flagship K50.
