What happened

In Tashkent, on the Bozsu canal, in a section closed to visitors, a young woman threw herself into the water. A passerby nearby said he had come there to shoot content, did not pay attention to the girl in black clothes, then saw the jump, ran to the water outlet, lost sight of her and called 102. The capital's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this in its own statement, and Gazeta provides the details.

The rescue

Inspectors from the Yashnabad district (Tepa massif) arrived at the scene. Due to the strong current and whirlpool, the girl was carried to the edge of the canal, where she held on, gripping the edge. Inspector Ortik Omonov went down into the water and pulled her out; the second officer, Kudrat Rasulov, helped lift her up. According to Omonov, the girl swallowed water and began vomiting; he noted that due to the circular motion of the water, even a slight delay could have pulled her under. After first aid, the victim was taken to City Hospital No. 5.

Outcome

After medical assistance was provided, the girl's identity was established and her parents, who live in the Yangiyul district of the Tashkent region, were contacted. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, she was handed over to her parents in good health; her condition is stable. 'When the parents came and thanked us, I once again became convinced that I had chosen the right profession,' said Ortik Omonov.
