Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke in an informal setting at a reception for participants of the G20 ministerial meeting in Atlanta. Photos of the diplomats were published by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on her Telegram channel, as reported by Life.ru.
How the reception went
The American side organized the event at the city aquarium. The head of the US State Department delivered a welcome address to the guests, after which participants moved on to personal conversations. «And then began those very 'standing' contacts that caused incredible excitement among the photographers,» Zakharova wrote. In the published photos, Lavrov and Rubio are talking surrounded by other participants of the meeting; in one shot, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is next to them.

Earlier, Life.ru reportedthat Lavrov held a brief conversation with Rubio on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta. The Russian minister positively assessed the conversation, noting that a detailed discussion was not possible due to his American counterpart's busy schedule. Nevertheless, the diplomats managed to discuss bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington, cooperation at the UN and the G20, as well as issues of cooperation within APEC.
