Concerts in Leipzig and Hamburg cancelled

The band Deep Purple has cancelled two concerts in Germany due to the emergency hospitalization of their vocalist Ian Gillan. The musicians announced the cancellation on October 31 on the band's official social media page, reports Life.ru. Due to the singer's health problems, the performances on October 31 at the QI Arena in Leipzig and on November 1 at the Sporthalle in Hamburg will not take place.

What is known about the vocalist's condition

In its statement, the band cited a medical incident that required Gillan's hospitalization as the reason for the cancellation. The musician's diagnosis and details of his condition are not being disclosed. Deep Purple apologized to fans for the short-notice cancellation and assured them that it would try to find new dates for both concerts: all purchased tickets remain valid and will be honored at the rescheduled performances.

The rest of the tour in question

Deep Purple's next concert is scheduled for November 3 in Dortmund, and on November 4 the band is due to perform in Berlin. It is not yet known whether Gillan's health condition will affect the rest of the tour. Context: Life.ru previously reported on a conversation in which bassist Roger Glover discussed the possible end of the band's touring activities; back in 2017, the musician admitted that the band members wanted to keep performing as long as their health and strength allowed. Ian Gillan joined Deep Purple in 1969 and performed many of the band's famous songs, including Smoke on the Water and Highway Star.
