Who can afford the new laptop

Representatives of nine high-paying professions will be able to buy a new MacBook Pro with a single monthly salary. This follows from a study by the GdeRabota.ru service, prepared at the request of Gazeta.Ru. The list includes driver-mechanic, car delivery driver, IT director, dental technician, track foreman, drilling rig operator, combine harvester operator, NAKS-certified welder, and pilot.

Price of the new product and money left after purchase

On October 28, Apple unveiled the MacBook Pro with a touch-sensitive OLED display and a glowing logo on the back cover — the company's first laptop with a touchscreen. Pre-orders are already open, and sales begin on November 6. In the US, the 14-inch model starts at $2,899; in Russia, it starts at 240,000 rubles.

Income spread within the list

According to salary statistics, a monthly income is enough for a driver-mechanic (470,000 rubles), a car delivery driver (417,000), an IT director (318,000), a dental technician (291,552 rubles), and a track foreman (280,000). After the purchase, they will have left anywhere from 230,000 rubles for the driver-mechanic to 40,000 for the track foreman. Five more specialists — a drilling rig operator (273,140 rubles), a combine harvester operator (259,631), a NAKS-certified welder (255,788), and a pilot (248,044) — will also be able to buy the laptop with a month's earnings, but the remainder will be noticeably smaller: 33,140 rubles for the drilling rig operator, 19,631 for the combine operator, 15,788 for the welder, and just 8,044 rubles for the pilot. The highest salary on the list belongs to the driver-mechanic: his income is almost twice the estimated price of the laptop.

What this says about the labor market

“Skilled workers are increasingly among the highly paid employees. Businesses need experienced drivers, machine operators, welders, and other qualified workers on whom production, construction, and transport depend. That is why employers are ready to offer them high salaries. This confirms that a high income is possible not only in IT and in managerial positions,” said Ekaterina Agaeva, CEO of GdeRabota.ru. Notably, most of the positions on the list are blue-collar and technical occupations, not office or managerial roles.
