What the capital's authorities decided
The Kengash of People's Deputies of Tashkent adopted a resolution on measures to improve public transport operations based on the results of Q3 2026. The document was published on the e-qaror.gov.uz portal, UzNews.uz reports on its contents.
Buses: intervals and schedule monitoring
The capital's Main Directorate for Transport Development and Road Transport Infrastructure and JSC Toshshahartransxizmat have been tasked with developing measures to reduce bus intervals to 3–5 minutes by deploying additional vehicles on all main routes. The changes are planned for morning rush hours from 07:00 to 09:30 and evening rush hours from 17:00 to 19:30; the work is to begin on November 15. During rush hours, strict schedules are also planned to be introduced, with compliance monitored daily through a centralized dispatch service and GPS monitoring.
Metro: 2–3 minutes and 5-car trains
The Tashkent Metro has been tasked with determining, by November 20, measures to reduce train intervals to 2–3 minutes and to form 5-car trains on the Chilanzar, Uzbekistan, Yunusabad, and the ground-level circular line. The changes are planned for morning (07:30–09:30), midday (12:00–14:00), and evening (17:00–19:30) rush hours. Unlike the bus section, where a start date has been set, the document only requires the metro to determine measures by a specific date — that is, for now this is about preparing decisions, not launching them.
High capacity and plans for 2027
By December 20, measures are recommended to deploy high-capacity articulated buses on 25 routes with high passenger traffic; special attention will be given to the Uchtepa, Mirzo Ulugbek (Mirabad), Sergeli, and Yangihayot districts. In addition, by November 15, the responsible organizations must submit proposals to the khokimiyat on additionally equipping the city's bus fleets with high-capacity vehicles during 2027 — this part of the resolution relates to plans for next year, not to immediate changes in the schedule.
