The invitation was delivered in Riyadh

UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has sent a letter to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman inviting him to the UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi, the state news agency Wamreported. The letter was delivered by UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Matar Al Dhaheri during a meeting with the kingdom's Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al Khuraiji in Riyadh.

What is known about the conference

The UN Water Conference will be held in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10, co-chaired by the UAE and Senegal. This is not Riyadh's first engagement through the forum: in August, as The National previously reported, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed sent an official invitation to the same conference to Saudi King Salman. Thus, invitations have been addressed to both levels of the Saudi leadership — the King and the Crown Prince — although Saudi participation in the December forum has not yet been officially confirmed.
