Ten substations in Tashkent are being upgraded to increase capacity
A modernization of a number of substations has been planned in Tashkent to improve the reliability of power supply and expand existing capacities in the power system, the press service of JSC Toshkent shahar magistral elektr tarmoqlari reported. The news was published by UzNews.uz.
Where and by how much capacity is increasing
The capacity of power transformers is being increased at ten substations. According to the company, upgrades have already been completed at Risovaya (from 32 to 50 MVA), Yangi Tuzel (from 12.6 to 50 MVA), Tuzel (from 10 to 16 MVA), Karasu (from 53.6 to 138.6 MVA), Charogon (from 26 to 50 MVA), Gornaya (from 30 to 50 MVA), Bibliotechnaya (from 53.2 to 90 MVA) and Vystavochnaya (from 50 to 80 MVA). At SAZIIT (from 20 to 50 MVA) and Istikbol (from 80 to 126 MVA), the increase is only planned — that is, judging by the wording of the announcement, work on these two facilities is yet to be carried out. The largest increase comes from Karasu — 85 MVA, the smallest from Tuzel — 6 MVA.
What this means in practice
In total, the modernization of the ten substations is expected to create 333.2 MVA of additional capacity. The company stated that this will allow the grids to withstand higher loads, improve the stability of power supply and the quality of electricity for consumers. For residents and businesses, this means a lower risk of restrictions during peak consumption; however, the announcement did not specify the timelines for completing work at the two substations where the increase is only planned.
