What happened

On 25 February 2026, on Nukusskaya Street in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent, a BMW driven by a schoolboy struck traffic police inspector, junior sergeant Khosilbek Eshnazarov. The officer sustained severe injuries and died in hospital on 27 February. Eight months later, a Daryo correspondent visited his parents' home in the Guzar district of Kashkadarya region and recorded the recollections of the deceased's loved ones.

Last conversations with the family

Mother Dilorom Namozova last spoke with her son on the evening of 25 February — according to her, he ended the conversation with tender words and a declaration of love. She regrets not calling her husband to the phone and not talking longer. Father Beknazar Jovliyev learned of the incident in the middle of the night from a call from the battalion commander, who said that the son had broken an arm and a leg, that 'his head is fine,' and asked him to come. He set out from Kashkadarya region in the rain and reached the hospital at half past five in the morning — his son lay unconscious and did not respond to calls.

Dreams that remained unfulfilled

According to his loved ones, Khosilbek had dreamed of serving in the internal affairs bodies since childhood and told his parents: 'Once I put on the uniform, I will regret nothing.' He planned to continue his education, advance in his career and become a general, and in March he intended to come on leave and renovate his parents' house — the family still keeps his blueprints. He also dreamed of taking his parents to Mecca to perform the hajj and was going to take out a loan of 100 million to pay for his mother's leg treatment, but she tried to talk him out of it. He is survived by two sons and a daughter; the eldest child is only six years old.

What is known about the aftermath

According to the publication, the state took the deceased's family under its care and provided housing. Eshnazarov himself, by a presidential decree, was posthumously awarded the Jasorat medal — that decision was made back in March, as Daryo previously reported. The schoolboy whose fault the officer died was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months of imprisonment.
