Detention during the sale of drugs worth $4,000

In Tashkent, officers of the Internal Affairs Ministry's Operative-Investigative Activities Department, together with territorial units and the State Security Service, carried out an operation in the Yangihayot district, the MIA press service reports. As UzNews.uz reports, a 31-year-old native of Samarkand region was identified as a major seller in a drug-related criminal scheme; his accomplices were a 30-year-old woman and a 26-year-old young man. All three were detained while selling 672 units of the potent pharmaceutical drug Regapen for $4,000.

A wedding hall as a drug lab

The operations continued in the Almazar district. According to the MIA, two previously convicted brothers were engaged in the makeshift production of drugs and set up a place for regular gatherings in one of the district's old wedding halls. During a search there, plastic containers for narcotic substances, electronic scales, a container with an unknown liquid, a homemade smoking device, and a bundle with a narcotic substance were found.

Hashish in cars and at home, supplier detained

Law enforcement officers then examined the brothers' cars: hashish and 8 units of Regapen were found in them. Hashish and Regapen were also discovered in the brothers' house. It turned out that the drugs were supplied to them by a man previously convicted of illegal drug trafficking; during further operations, the suspected drug dealer was detained with hashish and 532 units of Regapen.

Criminal cases

Criminal cases have been opened on these facts under subparagraph 'v' of part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (actions with narcotic substances without intent to sell) and subparagraph 'a' of part 6 of Article 273 (manufacture, acquisition, storage and sale of narcotic substances). Investigative actions are underway. The final charges and the fate of the detainees will become known following the investigation and trial — at this point, only data from the MIA's operations has been made public.
