Average and median salary
The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan has published preliminary data on the average nominal salary for January–September 2026: it amounted to 7.27 million soums per month, while the median value was 4.17 million soums. The gap between these two figures means that half of workers earn less than the average: the mean is pushed upward by the high incomes of some employed people. As the outlet explains Kun.uz, citing the agency, the figures are calculated before tax deductions, that is, they reflect the accrued salary rather than the employee's 'net' pay. In addition, agricultural enterprises and small businesses were not included in the calculation, so the actual coverage of employment is narrower than the entire economy.
Regional picture
Tashkent remains the leader in average salary — 12.3 million soums per month. It is followed by Navoi region (8.82 million) and Tashkent region (6.89 million). At the bottom of the list are Surkhandarya (4.99 million) and Kashkadarya (4.97 million) regions — the only regions where the average salary falls short of 5 million soums. In Bukhara region the figure was 5.84 million, in Andijan — 5.77 million, in Syrdarya — 5.74 million, in Karakalpakstan — 5.68 million, in Khorezm — 5.62 million, in Jizzakh — 5.51 million, in Namangan — 5.4 million, in Fergana — 5.38 million, and in Samarkand — 5.37 million.
Dynamics across regions
Salaries grew fastest in Namangan region — by 20.3%, in Jizzakh — by 19.8%, and in Tashkent region — by 19.1%. In Samarkand region the growth was 11.5%. At the same time, even after the noticeable salary growth in Namangan region (5.4 million), the region remains at the bottom of the ranking, which points to a persisting gap between the capital and most regions: the average salary in Tashkent is more than twice as high as the figures for Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions.
