Selfie over the abyss

Two tourists from Rostov Region who fell from an 80-meter cliff in Adygea had been taking selfies at the edge of the canyon shortly before the tragedy. A source in the region's law enforcement agencies told TASS about this. According to the source, the men were photographing themselves right above the rocky precipice, and both were intoxicated. They had come to Adygea on vacation and rented an off-road vehicle.

Tragedy at the Sakhray waterfalls

The incident occurred on October 24 near the Sakhray waterfalls. One of the tourists died, while the second survived but suffered multiple fractures, bruises and a concussion. He was unable to get out of the hard-to-reach spot on his own: as Life.ru previously reported, rescuers had to lift the survivor out of the deep canyon using a special rope.

Assistance to the victim and the investigation

The man received medical care in Adygea: doctors managed to stabilize his condition, after which he was taken to Rostov-on-Don for further treatment. Following the tourist's death, the Investigative Committee launched a pre-investigation review — investigators examined the scene and questioned witnesses. The publications do not yet mention any children, witnesses or the exact cause of the fall; the TASS source's claims about alcohol and filming at the edge of the cliff have not been officially confirmed.
