The key facts

  • Madushanka: 5-34 — his best career figures (previously 5-80 against India, 2023 World Cup)
  • Pakistan bowled out in 25.3 overs; top scorer Babar Azam with 29
  • Sri Lanka need a win to reach the final on Sunday and edge out England

Hosts routed in Lahore

In the tri-series match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Sri Lanka sent Pakistan back to the pavilion with a record-low total of 110 runs, AFP reports. Left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka took five wickets for just 34 runs — his best career figures (previously 5-80 against India in Mumbai at the 2023 World Cup). He was supported by Sahan Arachchige with 2-24: the hosts were bowled out in 25.3 overs after captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and sent Pakistan in to bat first.

The innings and the stakes for the final

The collapse began early: in the fourth over Madushanka removed out-of-form opener Fakhar Zaman (5). Babar Azam and Saad Baig added 23 runs for the third wicket, but then Madushanka dismissed Baig (5), Arachchige removed Salman Agha (9), and in the next over Azam, the match's top scorer with 29, was leg-before to Eshan Malinga. Hasan Nawaz made 17. At the end, Madushanka completed his five-wicket haul by removing Shaheen Shah Afridi (15) and Haris Rauf (1). For Pakistan it was a stark contrast to Sunday, when the team chased down 242 in a dramatic match and beat England by one wicket. Sri Lanka need a win to reach Sunday's final against Pakistan — otherwise the spot goes to England.
