Strikes across the Gaza Strip

At least six Palestinians were killed and ten wounded in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, medical sources told Anadolu. The attacks are described as further violations of the ceasefire agreement reached last year.

Strike on the university

Three Palestinians were killed and others wounded in an Israeli strike on the campus of the Islamic University in Gaza City, one source said. According to the university, shortly before that, a strike by an Israeli drone on a gathering of students on the campus wounded five students, some of them in serious condition. After the attack, the university suspended administrative and academic activities at its site in Gaza City; the attack caused panic among students and displaced Palestinians who had taken shelter on the campus after their homes were destroyed.

North, south and center of the enclave

In northern Gaza, an Israeli strike on a gathering of civilians along the coastal Al-Rashid road in the northwest of the enclave wounded several Palestinians; sources did not give an exact number. Another Palestinian was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the foot after Israeli forces opened fire in the Al-Faluja area west of the Jabalia refugee camp. In the south, according to medical sources, two Palestinians were killed and three wounded in an strike in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis; it was also reported that a woman was moderately wounded by Israeli fire in Khan Younis. Witnesses told Anadolu that Israeli artillery shelled areas east and south of the city, while gunboats fired at the coastline. In central Gaza, a 33-year-old man was killed in a strike east of Deir al-Balah. At dawn on Sunday, Israeli forces, according to local sources, demolished homes and buildings in areas they control in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, with two powerful explosions heard.

Casualty figures since the ceasefire

Despite the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025, the Israeli army has killed 1,551 Palestinians and wounded 5,573, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Since October 2023, the war in Gaza has reportedly claimed the lives of more than 74,000 Palestinians, with over 175,000 wounded and about 90% of the territory's civilian infrastructure destroyed. The editors note that these figures come from a single source — the Gaza Health Ministry — and no independent verification is described in the report; the number of wounded along the Al-Rashid road also remained unspecified.

Why it matters

The strike on the Islamic University campus and the subsequent suspension of its operations affect education for students and displaced residents, who had been sheltering on the campus grounds. Attacks continuing after the formal ceasefire, which according to the Gaza Health Ministry have claimed more than 1,500 lives, mean that the agreement is not stopping civilian casualties, and the toll of dead and wounded continues to be updated daily.
