The round and investors

Daytona Platforms announced on Friday that it raised a $60 million Series B round at a $1 billion company valuation. The round was led by FirstMark Growth, which had previously also led the $24 million Series A round in February. According to the company, total funds raised have reached $91 million. The New York-based company, founded three years ago, attracted a number of well-known angel investors in the new round: Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison, Shopify founder Tobi Lütke, Perplexity founder Aravind Srinivas, Zoom founder Eric Yuan, Datadog founder Olivier Pomel, Quora founder and OpenAI board member Adam D'Angelo, as well as Mercor founder Brendan Foody. Among the institutional participants in the round, the company names Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next, and Okta Ventures.

The product: a cloud for agents

Daytona is developing a cloud designed specifically for long-lived AI agents, whose infrastructure needs differ from those of traditional software. In a blog post about the round, company founder Ivan Burazin wrote that agents do not work the way long-lived services, for which modern clouds were designed, operate: they run thousands of short stateful tasks that no one planned in advance, and they need a cloud built precisely for this. According to him, the Daytona cloud is like giving each agent its own computer: agents get access to sandboxed versions of Linux, Windows, macOS, and GPUs, as well as to other services on a single platform.
