Battle in an Ambush
Russian scout with the call sign 'Ural' told the outlet mk.ru in an interview about a combat episode after which he was awarded the Medal 'For Courage'. According to him, the unit was in an ambush when it heard the enemy approaching. The fighters noticed that the enemy group was communicating via radio, and 'Ural' suggested that the enemy might have strayed off its route. As the group drew closer, the outlet's interlocutor claims, 'not Ukrainian but foreign speech' became clearly audible.
An Hour of Battle and a Week of Attacks
There was no time left to contact the command, so the fighters decided to engage in battle. The clash lasted about an hour. According to 'Ural', the unit managed to hold its positions and force the enemy to retreat. Until reinforcements arrived, the servicemen had to repel five more attacks over the course of a week. They completed their assigned task: the enemy failed to break through the defense line. Some of 'Ural's comrades, he added, were awarded posthumously.
On Service and the Enemy
The fighter also said that the unit regularly encounters drones and is deployed to areas where the defense needs reinforcement. According to him, one must not consider oneself invincible or underestimate the enemy: every battle unfolds differently and does not always follow a pre-set plan. Gazeta.Ru also recalls an earlier publication about the destruction of Ukrainian soldiers wearing Russian uniforms in the zone of the special military operation.
