Federation Accreditation

The Russian Laser Tag Federation has received state accreditation, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Sport reported. According to the ministry, participants in official laser combat competitions will now be able to systematically confirm their skill and receive official sports ranks.

Standards and Competition Requirements

The Ministry of Sport explained that laser tag standards have been included in the All-Russian Sports Classification (EVSK), which makes it possible to take players' achievements into account when awarding ranks. At the same time, competitions must be held according to approved rules, and referees must undergo mandatory accreditation. This procedure is intended to ensure uniform requirements for holding tournaments and evaluating participants' results.

What Laser Tag Is and the History of Its Recognition

Laser tag is a team game in which opponents use special electronic devices with infrared emitters. Hits are registered by sensors, so real projectiles or paint, as in paintball, are not needed to hold matches. Laser combat was officially recognized as a sport back in 2023: at that time, the Ministry of Sport included it in the All-Russian Registry of Sports along with drone racing, breaking, aerial gymnastics, and a number of other disciplines.
