The President's visit to the Chim mahalla

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Chim mahalla in the Kamashi district of Kashkadarya region, where he got acquainted with construction work and measures to ensure employment of the population. Chim is developing under the program 'Mahalla of the New Uzbekistan'; more than 5.5 thousand people live here, about half of them are youth.

Infrastructure renewal

55 billion soums have been allocated for infrastructure renewal. A 240-place kindergarten, a 640-place school, mahalla and youth centers, and a recreation park have been built. 4.5 km of roads have been laid, and electricity supply and irrigation networks have been updated.

Meeting with residents and the topic of language

The President talked with children and their mothers in the play hall of the mahalla center, and in the youth library he spoke with readers about their goals. In connection with the Uzbek Language Holiday, he recalled the works of Abdulla Oripov, Erkin Vohidov and Halima Khudoyberdiyeva, noting the growing attention to the language, national literature and the heritage of ancestors. 'Today, respect for our language, nation and our identity is constantly growing. People are again striving to read books,' he said, according to Kun.uz.

Higher education

Mirziyoyev emphasized the expansion of higher education opportunities: if earlier only 9 out of 100 young people received higher education, today 45 are studying. 'For the future of Uzbekistan, we need personnel with national pride who love the Motherland. I believe in you. The future of our Motherland, the Kashkadarya valley, is in your hands,' Kun.uz quoted him as saying.

Employment and incomes of the population

To increase residents' incomes, 3.5 billion soums have been invested in carpet and embroidery production, where women work. With the support of banks, greenhouses with a total area of 36 sotok have been created in about 20 households, and a 200-ton refrigerator has been built for storing products. This provided employment for more than 80 unemployed citizens.

Lemon growing based on cooperation

Lemon growing is developing on the basis of cooperation: seedlings, fertilizers and agrotechnical services are supplied to the population, and the harvest is purchased at a guaranteed price. Thanks to intermediate plantings of potatoes, broccoli and greens between lemon seedlings, each greenhouse brings an additional 14–16 million soums before the trees enter fruiting.
