Accusations and response
The Lebanese army on Tuesday rejected Israeli accusations that it is not disarming Hezbollah and not dismantling its military infrastructure south of the Litani River, as provided for by the November 2024 ceasefire agreement. In a statement, the army accused Israel of spreading disinformation in order to undermine its credibility amid ongoing negotiations, and stressed that its operations are documented by the ceasefire monitoring committee.
The dispute over the facility in Kfarra
The subject of the dispute is a military facility in the town of Kfarra in the Bint Jbeil district. According to the Lebanese army, its units began work at the facility in December 2025, but suspended it on March 16 after Israeli threats to strike the site. The army stated that the suspension was requested by the monitoring committee, which was aware that weapons and ammunition remained inside; after that, Israel struck the facility. According to the army, Israel repeatedly blocked the resumption of work until August 15, when it continued in coordination with the committee. The facility was cleared and finally closed on October 16, the statement said.
Israel's position
Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli army spokesperson Ella Waweya accused the Lebanese army of failing to curb Hezbollah's activity south of the Litani. She claimed that the group had continued operating at the facility in Kfarra and was removing weapons and equipment from it, publishing footage which, she said, showed Hezbollah transporting weapons on trucks.
Contested footage
The Lebanese army disputed the Israeli video recordings, stating that they were filmed on July 3 near the southern town of Siddikine shortly after the signing of the framework agreement, and that its actions are fully documented by the monitoring committee. The army affirmed its commitment to the existing agreements, while accusing Israel of ongoing attacks and violations.
Context
According to the publication, Israel has been striking Lebanon since March 2; thousands of people have been killed and wounded, and more than 1.5 million residents have been displaced. On June 26, Lebanon and Israel signed a US-sponsored framework agreement providing for a phased Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, the deployment of the Lebanese army, and the disarmament of Hezbollah. Despite the agreement, Israel continued strikes on southern Lebanon, and its forces continue to occupy Lebanese territory — both areas held for decades and those seized during recent wars and operations.
