The key facts

  • Teachers with a lifelong category are not required to undergo attestation, but may do so voluntarily for a higher category or a pay supplement
  • If a teacher scores insufficient points in voluntary attestation, the category is not downgraded
  • The procedure is set out in clauses 7 and 44 of the regulation (resolution No. 572 of 17.09.2021)

What the regulation says

The procedure for teacher attestation is defined by the regulation approved by resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan No. 572 of September 17, 2021. According to clause 7 of this document, teachers who have the right to lifelong retention of their qualification category are not subject to the next mandatory attestation. At the same time, they may, at their own discretion, participate in an extraordinary attestation in order to obtain a higher category or a pay supplement.

Is the category retained if the attempt fails

In accordance with clause 44 of the regulation, if a teacher does not score a sufficient number of points in an extraordinary attestation, their qualification category is not downgraded. The current category and the corresponding salary amount are retained. Thus, an unsuccessful result of a voluntary assessment does not lead to the teacher losing their previous qualification category.
