The key facts

  • See Tickets sold more bus packages than seats on certain routes to Glastonbury 2027
  • Bookings are automatically converted into a standard entry ticket, with the bus cost refunded to the card
  • According to the BBC, the festival was not responsible for the error; deposits and the April balance payment are unaffected

Error in selling bus packages

An administrative error led to bus trips to the Glastonbury 2027 festival being oversold beyond available seats through the festival's official ticketing partner. According to a letter from See Tickets to customers, some routes had more 'bus package' tickets sold than seats available. According to the BBC, the Glastonbury festival itself is not responsible for the error; the ticketing agency declined further comment.

What affected customers will receive

Customers will not lose their tickets: their booking will automatically be converted into a standard entry ticket, and the bus cost will be refunded to the card used for payment. If a customer wants to keep their bus seat, they need to notify the agency before 31 October 2026, otherwise the conversion will happen automatically. See Tickets assured customers that the error will not affect ticket deposits, and the remaining balance can be paid in April as usual. The agency apologised and thanked customers for their understanding, adding: 'We look forward to seeing you at the festival in June.'

Prices and context

Bus tickets to Glastonbury cost between £26 and £185 on top of the entry ticket — depending on the departure city and type of trip (one-way or return). The first batch of tickets for the 2027 festival sold out in less than 30 minutes. The requirement to board an assigned bus for the first trip is linked to the festival's green travel initiative, aimed at reducing environmental impact through public transport.

Customer reaction

For some customers, the news turned out to be rather welcome, as it gives more flexibility in planning their trip. Laura Brooks from Birmingham said that she and her friends bought a bus package because 'it is often hard to get regular tickets'. She had planned to meet them in London, but now she can travel to Somerset more directly and easily from her own city. 'I don't mind this error — they are clearly dealing with it quickly. These things happen,' she said. 'I'm just glad we didn't lose our tickets altogether.'
