A new boutique hotel at the foot of the Dolomites
According to Euronews, by the end of the year a boutique hotel, Le Graal Cortina, will open in Cortina d'Ampezzo at the foot of the Dolomites. It will be housed in a reimagined 1920s palazzo and has just 30 rooms, including 13 suites. The publication calls it possibly the most stylish new hotel of the resort. The interiors, created by Italian architect Achille Salvagni, are designed with dark wood, warm velvets and an abundance of light, with the mountains at the center of the concept. The hotel is part of the Leading Hotels of the World network.
Spa and gastronomy
Le Graal Cortina offers direct access to the region's ski slopes and Cortina's historic center. Guests have access to Le Graal Spa with an indoor pool, sauna, hammam, cryotherapy chamber and treatment rooms. The gastronomic side includes three restaurants and bars. Le Monsù offers classic fine dining — the name references the Sicilian version of the French Monsieur Le Chef, as chefs in aristocratic residences were called. Le Café is conceived as a combination of café, bistro and pastry shop with Sicilian dishes in a modern interpretation. Le Graal Bar, an American bar, serves its own versions of classic cocktails such as the negroni and spritz, as well as canapés and pastries.
Other openings in the Dolomites
Le Graal Cortina is not the only novelty of the season. In early December, The First Cortina by The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts will open in Cortina d'Ampezzo with 76 rooms, a spa complex and several restaurants, including the celebrity-favorite Zuma. Next year, after an extensive renovation, the historic Hotel Cristallo in Alta Badia will reopen under the Mandarin Oriental brand: it will have 83 rooms, including 30 suites, several restaurants and bars, as well as the brand's signature spa.
