Strike on Kyiv
On the evening of October 26, Russian forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles. According to the Air Force of Ukraine, the missiles were launched from Bryansk. This was reported by Kun.uz citing Ukrainian authorities.
Consequences in the capital
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that at around 23:00 local time at least one person was killed and ten were injured. Nine of the wounded were hospitalized, three of them in serious condition. The strikes hit the Desnianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts: in Desnianskyi — near one of the metro stations and a university dormitory, in Dniprovskyi — a building in an area of non-residential development; windows were shattered in two departments of a medical facility, but, according to Klitschko, patients and medical staff were unharmed. The city military administration reported damage to a residential building in the Desnianskyi district, where, according to preliminary data, some people may have remained trapped.
Kharkiv and the continuation of attacks
A few hours before the strike on Kyiv, Kharkiv was attacked. The city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov, reported two killed and four wounded in the Novobavarskyi district; multi-story and private houses, as well as cars, were damaged. Thus, in total, at least three people were killed in the two cities. The German outlet DW noted that at the time of its report, the attacks, including those using jet-powered drones, were ongoing, and the full extent of the consequences was still being clarified — the final casualty figures could change.
