A streaming guide becomes a streaming service

JustWatch — the company whose search engine and guide to movies and TV shows are used by 50 million people — on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, launched its own streaming service, JustWatch TV. JustWatch Group announced its plans to enter the streaming market a month earlier, when it also named its first partners: Paramount, New Regency, Fremantle, Bleecker Street and Vortex Media. They were later joined by Cineverse (US), LEONINE Studios (Germany), SND (France) and Altitude (UK). In total, the service includes content from 30 partners.

What is known about the company

The 12-year-old JustWatch is known as the 'TV Guide' of the streaming era: the service is available in 140 markets and shows where to watch more than 500,000 movies and TV shows from more than 1,500 providers. This data also powers around 1,400 third-party websites and apps and is used by studios, distributors and agencies for targeting campaigns on platforms like Meta, YouTube and TikTok. According to the company, launching its own service will make it possible to expand audience data and insights.

Pricing and availability

JustWatch TV works within the company's existing apps and website in 12 countries: the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. The free tier is ad-supported; the JustWatch TV Plus subscription costs $3.99 per month or $49.99 for a lifetime subscription and includes more than 300 ad-free titles in the US, advanced filters, and the ability to hide watched or uninteresting titles. Subscribers also get a 10% discount on hundreds of rental items in the JustWatch TV Store, which at launch is available in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and will later appear in other markets as well.

Competition and features

The free ad-supported tier competes with Tubi and Plex, while Plus competes with inexpensive services like Roku's ad-free Howdy at $2.99 per month. Like most budget services, JustWatch's catalog is focused on older movies and TV shows as well as indie content. According to TechCrunch, a lifetime subscription is an unusual pricing model against the backdrop of rising content costs, but JustWatch is counting on the added value of the data it collects. Another feature: users will be able to request titles they want to see on the service, thereby influencing its catalog.
