Poverty in Germany has risen by 45% since 1992 — WSI report
The Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI) reported that the share of poor households in Germany rose from 11.9% in 1992 to 17.3% in 2024, while income inequality is near its three-decade high. The report links this to declining effectiveness of taxes and social benefits and the growth of part-time employment.
