Skeleton from Roman sarcophagus at Westminster Abbey identified after 150 years
Westminster Abbey archaeologist Warwick Rodwell has established that the remains from a limestone sarcophagus found in 1869 belong to a high-ranking monk who lived in the late 10th to mid-11th century. The main candidates are Abbot Elfwig, who died around 1020, and his successor Wulnoth, who died in 1049.
