Emissions in France fell amid expensive fuel, but the pace is not enough for climate goals
According to Citepa, greenhouse gas emissions in France fell by 4.1% in the first half of 2026 due to rising fuel prices after the war in Iran. A 2.8% reduction is expected for the year, but the goal of halving emissions by 2030 requires about 5% annually. Minister Monique Barbut called the trend encouraging but insufficient.
