Rafiq Nishonov: the leader of Uzbekistan who backed the 'Cotton Case' and never returned home after the collapse of the USSR
Kun.uz published a piece about Rafiq Nishonov — the leader of Uzbekistan in 1988–1990, who supported the 'Cotton Case', acted unsuccessfully during the Fergana events of 1989, and after the collapse of the USSR remained living in Moscow. He died in Switzerland in 2023.
