Russia tests a method for isolating radioactive waste for thousands of years: an underground laboratory in Krasnoyarsk Krai
Rosatom has shown the progress of construction of an underground laboratory in the Nizhne-Kansky massif, where the reliability with which rock formations and engineered barriers retain radionuclides is being tested. The data is needed for a decision on the final isolation of high-level waste.
