Uzbekistan’s government introduces sugar import quotas with a closed resolution starting 2027
Under Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 417 of July 30, 2026, which was not published on Lex.uz, an annual quota of 300,000 tons for white sugar imports takes effect on January 1, 2027 — 100,000 tons each for producers of beverages, confectionery and other products. Local factories are promised tax breaks and loan restructuring, but economists warn of rising prices and corruption risks.
