Turkish politician explains why Russia cannot obtain observer status in the Organization of Turkic States
Deputy chairman of Turkey's ruling AKP party Kürşad Zorlu said that Kazakhstan's proposal to grant Russia observer status contradicts the OTS's internal rules: a candidate country must recognize a Turkic language as a state language across its entire territory. For Russia, the OTS+ format is possible. Kremlin press secretary Peskov called Russia's participation understandable and expedient, but noted that no official proposal has been made yet.
