China begins third phase of construction of the Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant in Shandong
Construction of the nuclear island of the fifth power unit has begun at Haiyang: the first concrete was poured on October 31. Once all six units are commissioned, the plant is expected to generate 60.9 billion kWh per year — enough to meet the household needs of 54 million people.
