Deaths from wildfire smoke in Canada have grown almost fourfold over two decades
A new report published in the medical journal The Lancet estimates annual deaths from wildfire smoke in Canada at about 4,000 for the period up to 2025, compared with 1,050 in 2003–2012. The authors link the increase to more frequent wildfires and climate change.
