Qatar's Emir: the country will emerge from the crisis stronger and will continue diversifying the economy
Speaking at the opening of the annual Shura session in Doha, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said Qatar was attacked by Iran, pledged to defend sovereignty while avoiding a wider war, and presented a strategy of accelerated economic diversification. Oil and gas revenues fell 42% in the first half of the year, but the non-oil sector accounts for about 80% of real GDP. Qatar will continue expanding LNG production and maintain its mediation role in the region.
