Osteopath Debunks Effectiveness of Periosteum Massage for Stimulating Bone Marrow
Dr. Shishonin recommends massaging the periosteum to boost bone marrow performance. Osteopath Dmitry Simkin told Gazeta.Ru there is no scientific evidence supporting this method: bone marrow lies inside the bone, while the periosteum is external. The only study found linking periosteal impact to bone marrow blood flow showed no positive effect and involved surgical intervention, not external pressure. Simkin warns that pain is not a sign of efficacy and excessive pressure may cause hematomas, inflammation, and tissue damage. He stresses that bone repair should not be confused with stimulating blood cell production. People should rely on proven methods and consult specialists rather than unverified periosteal massage.
